About Oikonomia
Oikonomia helps a household look after the money entrusted to it — in ordinary language, on an ordinary phone.
The name
οἰκονομία is a Greek word for the management of a household. It is where the word economy comes from, and it means something closer to careful keeping than to getting rich.
What it believes
That money is a resource entrusted to us, and the question worth asking is not how do we get more of it but how do we look after what we have.
That poverty is not usually a budgeting failure. Low income, illness, losing work, caring for family, prices rising — these are the ordinary causes of financial difficulty, and none of them are fixed by being told off. Where money is short, Oikonomia says so plainly and calls it what it is.
That biblical wisdom about provision, planning, debt, contentment and generosity is worth listening to, and is not the same thing as a modern financial rule. Oikonomia keeps the two clearly apart and never dresses one up as the other.
How it is built
Every figure you see is worked out on your own device by ordinary arithmetic. Bank statements are read on your phone and never sent anywhere. The assistant interprets those figures and helps you plan — it is never asked to produce a number, and if it returns one that was not given to it, its answer is discarded.
What it is not
Oikonomia gives household guidance. It is not a bank, not a lender, and not a substitute for a qualified financial, tax, legal or investment professional. It will not tell you what to invest in, and it will never promise a return.
