Your financial records stay on your own devices. This page explains exactly what is kept, where, and who can see it.
What stays on your phone
Your transactions, your budget, your categories and your corrections are stored on the device you use, not on a server. Bank statements are opened and read on your phone; the file itself is never uploaded. If a statement is password protected, the password is used in memory and forgotten — it is never stored, never logged, and never transmitted.
What is stored on the server
Only what is needed to know who you are and which household you belong to:
- Your name, email address and profile picture, from Google
- Your household's name and its code
- Who belongs to which household, and in what role
- Your sign-in sessions
- A record of household actions such as creating or joining one
No amount, transaction, balance or budget figure is stored on the server.
Signing in with Google
Oikonomia asks Google for three things only: a stable identifier for you, your email address, and your name and picture. It does not ask for access to your Google Drive, your email or your files. You can withdraw access at any time at your Google account permissions.
The assistant
The optional assistant runs on OpenRouter using a key you provide. What is sent to it is deliberately limited:
- Sorting your spending: a shop name on its own — "SWIGGY", "APOLLO PHARMACY". Reference numbers and payment addresses are stripped first. No amount, no date, no balance.
- Answering your questions: the answer already worked out on your device, which the assistant is asked only to reword. It is not given your transaction history.
Your key is kept on your device and used to talk to OpenRouter directly. If you remove it, it is gone.
Removing your data
In More → Your data you can erase everything on the device completely — records, plan, categories and key. To remove your account and household from the server, sign in and use Contact to ask; it will be deleted.
What is never done
- Your financial data is never sold, shared or used for advertising
- There is no advertising or third-party tracking in this app
- Your bank credentials are never asked for — Oikonomia never connects to your bank
Who operates this
Oikonomia is run by an individual, not a company. Whoever administers the server could in principle read what is stored there — which is why what is stored there is deliberately limited to the list above, and excludes every figure about your money.
